Built Around Your Shutdown Window
A food or beverage shutdown leaves a short window to get through a lot of valves. A brewery or dairy can have hundreds of divert, mixproof, butterfly and seat valves, all needing seals changed, actuators checked and everything function tested before CIP and restart.
OMS plans the valve work before the shutdown starts. We survey the valves or work from your valve list, confirm seal materials, order seal kits ahead of time and size the crew to your window. On site, our tradespeople work through the valve register area by area, and you can see progress as it happens.
Our tradespeople bring field service experience with a global industrial valve manufacturer, across dairy, brewing and beverage processing. We use specialist seal tooling for divert valves, so seals go on undamaged and the job takes a fraction of the time.
On a valve shutdown we
- Survey valves and confirm seal materials beforehand
- Line up seal kits and spares before the shutdown
- Strip, inspect and reseal divert, mixproof, butterfly and seat valves
- Service actuators and control tops
- Function test every valve with your team before hand-back
- Tag each valve with seal material and service year
- Send progress reports at the frequency you choose
- Send variations for approval straight from site
Reports That Do the Work for You
We built our own job and reporting system, OMS Field, from years on the tools doing valve shutdowns. Every OMS tradesperson uses it on site, on their phone. Nothing relies on a notebook or someone remembering what they did on night three.
All of it is reported from site, as the job happens, not written up from memory days later. The result is a report your maintenance team can actually use: every valve accounted for, every fault tied to the valve it was found on, and a clear list of what to plan for next time.
- Every valve on a registerEach valve is listed by tag and area with what was done and the outcome: serviced, repaired, needs replacing or not accessed.
- Faults recorded where they were foundFindings are logged against the valve, with photos and a recommendation ranked urgent, next service or monitor.
- Variations sent straight from siteIf we find something that needs extra work, the variation goes straight to your team from site, with as-found photos and the recommended repair. Nothing chargeable starts until you approve it. Quick fixes are done on the spot and noted. The final report shows each variation as found and as repaired, and who approved it.
- Progress reports as often as you want themYou choose how often you hear from us: at the end of every shift, daily or weekly. Each interim report shows the valves done, findings so far and any variations, so you're never waiting until the end of the shutdown to see where things are at.
- Your valve list back, cleaned upYou get the report as a PDF and the valve register as an Excel spreadsheet you can load into your maintenance system or keep as your master list.

Planning Your Next Shutdown
Send us your valve list
Any format is fine. We turn it into a clean valve register by area, with tags, sizes, types and seal kit part numbers where we have them.
Seal change intervals
We recommend an interval for each valve based on duty, product, temperatures and CIP, and what we find at each service.
Seal kits lined up early
Some seal kits and spares have long lead times. Planning early means they are on site before the shutdown starts.
Findings carried forward
Everything recommended for the next service is already on the list, so nothing found this year is forgotten by the next shutdown.
Crew locked in
Booking early secures qualified tradespeople for your window, inducted to your site before they arrive.
One point of contact
One contact for planning, scheduling, approvals and the report, before, during and after the shutdown.
Safe, Clean and To Your Rules
Food and beverage sites have strict rules, and they are there for good reason. OMS works to your site's safety and hygiene systems, not around them.
- Site inductions completed and recorded before anyone arrives
- Permits, isolations and lock-out to your procedures
- Your SWMS, JSA or JHA signed on, and a Take 5 before each task
- GMP followed: hair and beard nets, clothing and food-safe lubricants
- The right elastomers for your product and cleaning chemicals
- Licences and tickets checked and kept current for every tradesperson
Covered and accountable
- $20 million public and products liability
- WorkCover Queensland
- Management system following the structure of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Qualified trades only on site
- Hazards, near misses and incidents reported and followed up
Valves We Work On
Valve Shutdown Questions
Do you do valve shutdowns outside South East Queensland?
Yes. We are based in Brisbane and work across South East Queensland. For larger valve scopes and planned shutdowns at breweries, dairy and food plants, we travel across Australia and New Zealand.
What is in the service report?
Every valve on the job is listed by tag and area with what we did and the outcome. Faults are recorded against the valve they were found on, with photos and a recommendation ranked urgent, next service or monitor. Any extra work approved during the shutdown is shown as found and as repaired, with who approved it. You get the report as a PDF and the valve register as an Excel spreadsheet.
Can we load the valve register into our maintenance system?
The register comes as an Excel spreadsheet with one row per valve, so it can be imported into most maintenance systems or kept as your master valve list.
How far ahead should we book a shutdown?
As early as you can. Two to three months ahead lets us survey the valves, confirm seal materials and order seal kits, some of which have long lead times. Booking early also locks in the crew for your window.
What happens if you find something that needs extra work?
Small, quick fixes are done on the spot and noted on the report. Anything that changes the scope or adds cost is sent to your team straight from site as a variation, with as-found photos and the recommended repair, and only goes ahead once you approve it.
How often will we get updates during the shutdown?
As often as you like. We can send an interim report at the end of every shift, daily or weekly, showing the valves completed, findings so far and any variations. You tell us how often and who should receive them.
Do you supply seal kits?
Yes. We identify the seal kits and spares for your valves from the survey or your valve list and line them up ahead of the shutdown.
Do your people follow our site rules and GMP?
Yes. We complete your site inductions before we arrive, work to your permits, isolations and SWMS or JSA, and follow your GMP rules for hair nets, beard nets, clothing and food-safe lubricants.
