Hydraulic Fault Finding

Hydraulic Problems Sorted On Site

Hydraulic failures are one of the most common reasons earthmoving equipment stops on a job. A split hydraulic hose, a weeping cylinder or a pump losing pressure can stall a whole crew, and waiting days for a workshop booking costs far more than the repair.

OMS is a mobile hydraulic repair service. We come to the machine, test it properly, and fix what's actually wrong, whether that's a hose, a ram seal, a relief valve or a tired pump. You get a straight explanation of what failed and why, so it doesn't happen again next week.

We work on excavators from mini to large class, skid steers and track loaders, wheel loaders, dozers and attachments, plus hydraulic power units on fixed plant and processing equipment.

What We Repair

Hoses, Cylinders, Pumps and Valves

Hydraulic hose repair

Blown, split or weeping hoses replaced on site, with fittings checked and the system topped up and bled.

Cylinder & ram repair

Leaking cylinders and rams diagnosed, resealed or removed for rod and barrel repair, then refitted.

Pump & valve faults

Low pressure, noisy pumps, sticking spools and relief valve faults tested and repaired.

Slow or weak hydraulics

Pressure and flow testing to find why a boom, bucket, track or slew has lost power.

Leaks & contamination

Oil leaks traced to source, contaminated oil and filters dealt with before they damage components.

Attachment circuits

Auxiliary lines, couplers, hammers and attachment hydraulics fault found and repaired.

Recent Job

Split Hose, Fixed On Site

A split hydraulic hose had this Yanmar mini excavator losing oil mid-job. The failed hose was removed and replaced on site, the hydraulic oil topped up, with no float to a workshop.

Most hydraulic breakdowns are like this: one failed component stopping a good machine. Getting it diagnosed properly is what stops it happening again.

FAQ

Hydraulic Repair Questions

Can you replace a blown hydraulic hose on site?

Yes, in most cases. We remove the failed hose, get a replacement made up to match, fit it on site, top up and bleed the system, then check for leaks before the machine goes back to work.

My cylinder or ram is leaking. Can it be fixed without sending the machine away?

Often, yes. We diagnose the leak on site. Depending on the cylinder and any rod or barrel damage, it is resealed on site or removed for repair and refitted, so the machine doesn't have to be floated to a workshop.

My excavator boom is slow and weak. Is that a hydraulic problem?

Usually. Slow or weak functions point to low pump output, a relief valve or control valve fault, internal cylinder leakage or contaminated oil. We test pressures and flows on site to find the cause before replacing parts.

Which machines and brands do you work on?

Excavators of all sizes, skid steers and track loaders, wheel loaders, dozers and attachments, plus hydraulic power units on fixed plant. We work across CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Kubota, Kobelco, Yanmar, Takeuchi, JCB and most other brands.

Where do you cover for hydraulic breakdowns?

South East Queensland: Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Caboolture and Gympie. Call us and we'll tell you straight when we can get there.

How much does a hydraulic repair cost?

It depends on what has failed and the parts needed. A hose replacement is a relatively quick job; a cylinder reseal or pump repair takes more time and parts. Call us with the machine and the symptoms and we'll give you a realistic estimate upfront.
